Bellingen Shire Council invites residents to participate in a community workshop on Thursday 20 September to discuss management and conservation of flying-foxes and the Bellingen Island camp.

Background Bellingen Island is a Nationally Important camp. Bellingen Shire Council have engaged Ecosure to implement actions from the Bellingen Island Camp Management Plan (CMP) including to:

promote awareness and appreciation of flying-foxes, their ecological importance and conservation status to understand community preferences for reducing impacts through property modification (subsidies, buffers, fencing) to hear community preferences on how ecotourism can be run and managed in the Bellingen Shire around flying-foxes.
