Expressions of interest are now open for North Sydney Local Government Area representatives to join the Sydney North Regional Planning Panel (RPP). The RPP is made up of five members.Three members including the chair are appointed by the Minister. Two members are nominated by North Sydney Council.

We are seeking to appoint two qualified, skilled, and experienced experts on the RPP. Additionally, we are seeking two alternates to also be available if needed.

In New South Wales, regional planning panels provide independent, merit-based decision making and advice to the Minister for Planning on regionally significant development proposals. For more information about Planning Panels, see the NSW Planning Portal.

 

Skills and experience

We are seeking qualified, skilled, and experienced experts who have the ability to assess regionally significant development proposals against relevant Acts and Regulations. North Sydney Council’s representatives must have knowledge of the North Sydney area and North Sydney planning issues. They must have the ability to act independently and demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Planning Architecture Heritage The environment Urban design Land economics Traffic and transport Law Engineering Tourism

The appointments will run for a term of up to three years. Representatives on the RPP will be remunerated $750 per meeting. There are approximately six meetings a year, held usually on the first Wednesday of the month.

Property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to be members of a panel.
