Northern Beaches’ War on Waste

Did you know food waste counts for one third of our rubbish in NSW?* While there are plenty of ways to avoid food waste like planning your meals, eating leftovers, or using all parts of your fruit and veg, it’s inevitable that there will be some food you send to the bin.

That’s where your new friends come in – worms and chickens. Both these wriggly invertebrates and feathered friends make excellent food recyclers. Not only that but they turn your food scraps into something new – high quality compost your garden will love.

We want as many locals as possible to reap the benefits of worms and chickens so we’re giving away 10 vouchers where the winners can choose between owning a worm farm, compost bin or a new chook!

How do I enter?

For your chance to win one of 10 vouchers, watch one of our videos on composting, worm farming or backyard chickens.

Let us know in 150 words or less what you learnt or found most interesting in the video and email your answer to [email protected] by Monday 16 November.

Winners will be notified by Friday 27 November. Entrants must be residents of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area.
