Council News - 8 April 2020 PRESS RELEASE COVID-19 Coronavirus

The COVID-19 Coronavirus is continuing to have an impact on Communities with the Weddin Shire being no exception.

As Council is deemed an essential service, services such as sewer, garbage collection and garbage tips will continue to be maintained. Council’s administration office remains open with social distancing measures put in place at the service counter. The situation will continue to be monitored and decisions will be made accordingly.

There are however, various services closed to the public until further notice which are detailed below:

Grenfell Public Library Grenfell VIC Grenfell Internet Centre Grenfell Aquatic Centre and Quandialla Pool Grenfell Caravan Park and Railway Station Free Camping Grenfell Museum Grenfell Skatepark Local Parks

Staff at the Grenfell VIC, Internet Centre and Caravan Park are still available to assist the community and they are available on their respective contact numbers during business hours.

Council’s sporting fields are now restricted to passive recreational use until further notice and the Grenfell Waste Facility is open for Shire residents only whilst the recovery shop is closed.

In regards to assistance for businesses there have been major developments and announcements made by the Federal Government in the last week regarding cash flow assistance and the JobKeeper payment whereby businesses will be able to access wage subsidies to continue to pay their employees. We are currently experiencing unprecedented times and residents are reminded that it is very important that we are patient, kind, caring and respectful of each other in dealing with this global pandemic. We need to continue to adhere to the directions issued from the various levels of government and if we do this we will all get through this together.

Advertisements EASTER GARBAGE COLLECTION

Residents are hereby advised the garbage run and trade waste collection services that would normally occur on Monday 13 April, 2020 will be postponed to Tuesday 14 April, 2020 due to the Easter Monday public holiday.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

GRENFELL WASTE FACILITY COVID-19 UPDATE

Residents are hereby advised that in response to the Covid-19 Coronavirus the Grenfell Waste Facility will remain open however access will be restricted to Weddin Shire residents only.

Further to this, the recovery shop will be closed until further notice.

Social distancing and proper hygiene practices will apply within the facility according to the legislation and regulations the Federal and State Governments have introduced.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

EASTER VISITATION COVID-19 UPDATE

Residents are hereby advised that in accordance with directives from the Federal and State Governments residents are requested to discourage visitation from family and friends over the Easter period.

The COVID-19 Coronavirus is a serious threat to residents, particularly the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions whose health and safety is vitally important.

Thank you for your co-operation and assistance in this regard.

CENTRAL TABLELANDS WATER RESTRICTIONS

Residents are hereby advised that Central Tablelands Water (CTW) will be implementing Level 5 Water Restrictions across the entire water supply network from 5 April, 2020.

Level 5 restrictions are summarised in the following table.
