Liverpool City Council will stand behind local businesses impacted by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and is encouraging the business community to make the most of online tools and resources to get through this challenging period.

“Council recognises that businesses of all sizes will be impacted by coronavirus and our staff continue to touch base with businesses across many industries to work out how we can provide support,” Mayor Waller said.

“We’ve developed a free three-part webinar series running on 9, 14 and 16 April to help businesses get online quickly and cheaply to keep connected with customers. They’ll learn how to set up a website, create and manage social media accounts.

“Now more than ever we’re seeing the power of digital communication – it's a game-changer for staying in touch with one another in a fast and convenient way while we need to limit our movements to keep ourselves and others safe.”

Businesses are encouraged to visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/coronavirus for up-to-date information on Council’s response to coronavirus and to register for Council’s free ‘Getting Your Business Online’ webinar series. There you’ll also find a link to subscribe to Council’s business e-newsletter, Liverpool Business Connect, for regular updates on financial support, online resources and training to help navigate through this period.

“We will do everything we can to support businesses and keep locals in jobs, but we can’t do it alone,” Mayor Waller said.

“Small business is the heart of our community - I encourage residents to help keep it beating strong in tough times by shopping locally. Purchase items or a gift voucher for a special someone from local stores online, or order takeaway from one of our many fantastic restaurants and cafes.

“If you’re a small business and you are still open, use #LoveLivo when sharing updates on social media about your trading hours and any offers the community may find of interest. I also encourage residents to use #LoveLivo to keep updated on who’s open and to help spread the local love.

“Our small businesses are run by family, friends and neighbours, and they provide jobs for thousands of locals. Let’s all do our bit to get through this together.”

Council has already waived outdoor café permit fees and will waive parking fees at Warren Serviceway car park for essential workers on available spaces. Council will also be advocating State Government to waive parking fees at Liverpool Hospital car park.
