Recognising seniors in the Blue Mountains
Blue Mountains 31 Jan 2020

We’re celebrating older people in the Blue Mountains in February, with the annual Blue Mountains Seniors Recognition Awards and an extensive program of activities.

“The NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere,” Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said.

“To acknowledge the remarkable contributions our local seniors make to our Blue Mountains community, an extensive program of events has been put together.”

The theme for 2020 focuses on ‘Love to Celebrate’.

It is about promoting inclusive communities by providing a range of opportunities for seniors to make new friends, get together with old friends and try new things.

“I would like to acknowledge the hard work of contributing Blue Mountains community organisations and businesses in developing this extensive program of events,” Cr Greenhill said.

“The Seniors Festival also provides an opportunity to promote a better understanding about seniors and the value they add to our lives.”

The annual Blue Mountains Seniors Recognition Awards, to be held on Monday 24 February, are an important part of the annual festival.

The awards acknowledge the contribution that individuals and organisations have made to seniors in our community.

Nominations for the 2020 Seniors Week Recognition Awards close on Monday, 10 February. Nominate someone today.
