Wollongong’s Botanic Garden blasts off these school holidays with a trip aboard the  new Gardens of the Galaxy program, daily from 8 to 12 July.

Children from five years to 10 years can have an astronomical holiday adventure and find out if plants can grow in space, survive on the Moon or thrive on Mars.

Daily activities include:

Wollongong Botanic Garden Curator [Acting] Karen Holmes said the school holiday programs are planned around an environmental theme, include interactive and hands-on activities, and are focused on teaching kids about the natural environment and sustainability. ​

The cost is $13 per child or $24 for a family group of two or more children, children must be accompanied by an adult with no cost for supervising adults. Activities start at 10am and run till 1pm. Entry to the Garden is free.

Sausage sizzle sandwiches will be available for purchase from the Lions Club and there’s an on-site coffee van, Garden Grounds Café, which also has drinks and snacks available for purchase.
