It’s important for us to have art in public spaces – in urban hubs, bushland and parks, on headlands and by beaches. It’s even better when it’s by local artists.

As part of our ‘More to Manly, Safer Laneways’ project, laneways in Manly streets are being refreshed with unique street art. By adding public art to our places, we can create welcoming spaces that encourage the community to come together, respect the area and contribute to feelings of safety.

It’s always fun to add art in unexpected places, right? Check out the two car park exhaust stacks that received a face-lift this week, giving these little exhausts bold and beautiful displays of artwork. Council engaged Local artist Meg Minkley to paint the groovy stacks with her interpretation of Manly’s aboriginal and architectural heritage.
