What’s the hula-hoopla about Family Week?

Families Week is a national celebration of the vital role family plays in Australian society, and with events across the Eurobodalla there’s opportunities a-plenty to take some time out for quality time with your family.

Council’s child-development officer Jessica Bourke said Families Week runs from 13 to 20 of May, and honours the vital role families play in the community, with terrific opportunities for locals to participate with family and friends.

“We’ve got the Family Foreshore Fun events,” Ms Bourke said.

“Gather up your loved-ones for a chat while you stroll along our spectacular foreshores.

“These are low-key events and a terrific way for local families to meet, engage and come together as the Eurobodalla. Better yet, they’re free!”

Ms Bourke said Foreshore Fun events would run in Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay, and included morning tea.

“Of course, we have other events running too,” she said.

“There’s Playmaze fun, the Million Paws Walk, and the Schools as Community Centres’ playgroup and barbecue.

“Don’t forget Heidi’s Hula Hoopin’ Circus, it’s a matinee for the whole family. Kids can keep count as Heidi spins one, two, three, four hoops – exactly how many can she spin?”

Ms Bourke said businesses like Zippity Doo Playhouse, Batemans Bay Mini Golf and the Mogo Goldrush were offering Families Week discounts.

Families Week coincides with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May.
