Two of the Snowy Monaro’s smaller schools are celebrating big milestones with the Adaminaby and Nimmitabel Public Schools marking 150 years of education.

Despite the weekend’s cooler conditions, the Nimmitabel community came together to celebrate the school’s achievements in its 150 years.

This weekend, Adaminaby Public School will mark its 150th anniversary. A few of the activities planned for the occasion include a tour of the school, displays and markets.

Council will deliver an exciting range of events for National Youth Week. The Snowy Monaro Youth Council has worked with Council’s Youth Development Officers to create a program of events that will keep the region’s young people engaged and entertained.

National Youth Week in the Snowy Monaro will run from April 10 to April 17. For a list of the events, please visit the Council’s website.

Nominations are still being accepted for the Snowy Monaro Region Arts and Culture Advisory Committee. The committee will promote arts and culture in the region and provide strategic advice to the Council.

If you have an interest in the development of arts and culture in the region, I would encourage you to nominate for this committee. There are six positions for community representatives.

Councillor Sue Haslingden will chair the committee. Sue is passionate about strengthening the region’s arts community. Nomination forms are available at all Council offices and on the Council website.

A fantastic local initiative is Snowy’s Place. Held at the Cooma Youth Hub from 12pm to 1pm, Snowy’s Place provides people with a safe place to chat, share stories and enjoy a free, nourishing meal.

Don’t miss your chance to have your say on the Snowy Monaro Region Planning and Land Use discussion paper. The paper provides an overview of the key planning issues at a regional and local level.

Please visit Council’s Your Say Snowy Monaro website, or drop by any Council office, to fill out a survey that will help shape planning, development, and land use in the region.
