Youth Week 2019 is two weeks of fun for everyone!

The Cessnock Youth Week Organising Committee is proud to offer a fully inclusive program for Youth Week 2019. The events include a range of social, recreational and educational activities, offering opportunities that foster personal growth for young people of all abilities aged 12-24.

Youth week is a community run event that relies on the generous support from young people, local organisations, businesses and Council. Each year the committee has aimed to provide accessible spaces to ensure events are inclusive to everyone who wants to come along. This year marks a huge leap forward to achieving this goal. Each event is at an accessible venue and wheelchair accessible transport is available on the excursion buses to the ‘Greta Road Trip, ‘Charlestown Fun Day’ and the ‘Day at the Bay’.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is proud of the communities’ efforts towards creating this year’s event.

“Youth Week is a reflection of the dedication our community has to the next generation. The time volunteered to passing on skill and knowledge to our youth is truly commendable.”

“Youth Week is a time to embrace people of all abilities throughout our community, no one should have to miss out on the fun.”

Leah Coffin, Ability Links Regional Program Coordinator commented on the importance of inclusivity in our community.

“Accessible events are a key component of inclusive communities.  If we want everyone in our communities to be involved in living life we need to work towards having community spaces that are accessible.  Ability Links NSW is proud to work alongside Cessnock City Council as they instill the philosophy of inclusion with the youth in their community.”
