Australia Day Award Recipients 2019

Cobar Shire Council are pleased to announce our 2019 Australia Day Award Recipients. 

The judging panel had a number of strong entries and we wish to congratulate all of the winners and those who were nominated.

The categories for the 2019 Australia Day Awards were: Sports Person Award, Services to Sport Award, Community Event of the Year, Bossie Mitchell Service to the Community Award, Kerrigundi Award, Citizen Award and Young Citizen Award and the newly introduced Environmental Citizen of the Year.

The Sports Person of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have excelled in sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months. Winner: Scott Brydon.

The Services to Sport Award is awarded to a person or persons who have shown dedication to sport in the Cobar district communities, particularly in the past twelve months. Winner: Jenna Fullagar.

The Community Event of the Year Award is awarded to an event which has demonstrated excellence in the Cobar District Communities on a voluntary basis, particularly in the past twelve months. Winner: Running on Empty Festival.

The Bossie Mitchell Services to the Community Award is awarded to a person or persons who have made a significant contribution to the Cobar district community on a voluntary basis. Joint Winners: Sheena Geppert and Georgie Brown.

The Kerrigundi Award is awarded to a person or persons up to the age of 24 years who has excelled in sport at a level where they have represented the Cobar district or have been chosen to participate outside the Cobar district. Winner: Ben Griffiths.

The Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons who have had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months. Winner: John DeBruin.

The Young Citizen of the Year Award is awarded to a person or persons (up to the age of 24 years) who has had significant acheivements on a voluntary basis in the Cobar district communities, particulary in the past twelve months. Winner: Hannah Kriz.

 The newly introduced Environmental Citizen of the Year had Joint Winners: Megan and Andrew Mosely.
