The City of Swan’s Ageing Disgracefully event is back on September 19 and this year’s event is set to be better than ever.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the free, fun-filled day is full of information on the best ways to enter the golden years.

“Ageing Disgracefully takes the worry out of ageing and instead gathers people together to celebrate life and growing older,” he said.

“This year’s event will feature guest speakers, information stalls, morning tea, comedy and music.

“Daniel Lane, Clinical Director of the Perth Brain Centre, will present a fascinating talk on ‘The Youthful Brain’.

“Daniel has a wealth of knowledge and experience in areas such as chronic pain, depression, anxiety, strokes, dementia and protecting your brain.

“We’ll also hear a presentation from Brenton Fosdike who will discuss ‘The Medicine of Music’.”

Mayor Lucas said last year’s Ageing Disgracefully event saw record-breaking numbers, with more than 700 people turning out to attend.

“I can tell you from personal experience that this is one of the best events in the City’s calendar - it is always a hugely popular day,” he said.

“I’m currently undertaking some dancing lessons to gear up for the big event, so watch this space.”
