Compulsory Local Government Candidate Induction

This year new laws have been introduced which make it compulsory for all candidates who would like to become a Councillor and are nominating or renominating in a local government election to complete the Department of Local Government, Sport & Cultural Industries online induction. To be able to nominate in a Western Australian local government election, YOU MUST complete this induction. Please make sure you leave enough time to complete the induction so you can lodge your nomination form before nominations close.

2019 Local Government Elections

2019 Local Government Elections

Council operates under a 4 x 2 Electoral Cycle which simply means Councillors are elected for 4 year terms and elections are held every two years - where half the Council will be up for election. Council elections are now conducted on the First Past the Post System, whereby the person with the most votes is elected - no preferences are required. Council elections are held on the third Saturday in October every second year and this years election will be held on Saturday 19th October 2019.

Cuballing Stay on Your Feet Expo

The Shire of Cuballing will host a Stay on Your Feet Expo on Tuesday 13th March 2018. There will be exhibitions and information from the Narrogin Police, Independent Living, Aged Care Assessment Team, Yoga, Balance Checks and information on Enduring Power of Attorneys and Wills. A light morning tea will also be provided.

End of Restricted Burning Period

End of Restricted Burning Period

The Shire of Cuballing’s Restricted Burning Period has now ended. Property owners and residents no longer need to obtain a permit issued by their local volunteer Fire Control Officer if they wish to light a fire Whilst there are no formal restrictions on lighting fires, property owners and residents are urged to still be cautious and responsible when doing so. Permits will be for a specific time and location and may include conditions that the land owner is required to comply with prior to lighting the fire.

Draft Shire of Cuballing Local Planning Strategy Available for inspection and comment

The LPS is intended to provide broad direction for the future growth and development of the district for 10 - 15 years. The draft Local Planning Strategy is currently a preliminary draft and will be modified following comments from the community and other stakeholders in 2018 and based on Western Australian Planning Commission requirements. It is highlighted that investment or associated decisions should not rely on the draft Strategy given the final endorsed Strategy will be different to the preliminary draft version.
