Council is installing easy to use drinking water refill stations provided by Sydney Water at some of the City’s busiest parks.

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said one of his priorities is providing opportunities for residents to be able to get out and about and be healthy.

“Residents can refill their water bottles easily when out and about exercising, walking, jogging, cycling, using playgrounds or playing games with family and friends,” Mayor Carbone said.

“A big part of a healthy lifestyle is staying hydrated when exercising, especially in the warm weather.”

The water refill stations will be available at four locations.

• Rosford Reserve Wetherill Park with the installation of a new circuit walking path

• Prout Park Mount Pritchard with the installation of new fitness equipment

• Cabravale Memorial Park

• Bonnyrigg Town Park (installed in February)

The water refill stations are part of the “Make Healthy Normal” campaign and have been installed in partnership with Sydney Water.

Sydney Water Senior Communications Advisor Donna Lewis said Sydney Water was delighted to be partnering with Fairfield City Council on the project.

“Sydney has some of the best drinking water in the world. It’s already filtered by Sydney Water, and ready to drink straight from the tap,” Ms Lewis said.

“The availability of the water stations will help the family budgets of local residents by providing free water, rather than purchasing bottled water.

“The water stations also provide two messages: “Make tap water your drink” and “Better for the environment”.  These have been translated into five other languages to ensure that local residents know that Sydney’s water is safe to drink straight from the tap.”

Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said Council has a strong history of encouraging residents to lead healthier lives.

“These water refill stations complement our continued investment in healthy infrastructure from our recently opened Obstacle Course in the Fairfield Park Precinct to numerous outdoor fitness equipment sites across the City,” he said.
