Town supports small business as restrictions ease

In an effort to stimulate the local economy and support small businesses impacted by COVID-19, a redirection of grant funding previously set aside for events has been made available for businesses of the Claremont Town Centre who are re activating their businesses as restrictions ease.Mayor Barker said that each year the CTC operational plan devotes a small proportion of its budget to support local businesses who design and deliver their own events and activations to attract people into the broader shopping precinct.“As a result of the pandemic the business grant program was suspended as many businesses were required to reduce trading or had to adjust their businesses to deal with restrictions” said Mayor Barker.Following the phased roadmap announced by the State and Federal Governments and an easing of restrictions, the last two weeks has seen a strong re-emergence of Town Centre businesses.“It has been a great relief to see our small business owners reinvigorating their shopfronts and opening their doors” said Mayor Barker. In an effort to support these businesses, the Town has redirected the grant funding allocated for activations.
