BAMM to Pop-Up at the Max Ballroom

Bank Art Museum Moree (BAMM) will soon undergo major upgrades to improve access to the building and update the gallery's climate control system. Moree Plains Shire Council and BAMM are committed to providing a space that is accessible, safe and comfortable for everyone.

The gallery, including the studio/workshop, at 25 Frome Street Moree will be closed for the duration of the works, commencing from Monday 11 March 2024; exact dates for reopening are yet to be confirmed. During this time, BAMM will be closed to public access.

A “Pop-Up” exhibition showcasing selected works from BAMM’s permanent collection will open midway through March in the Chandelier Ballroom on Level 1 of the Max Centre, 30 Heber Street Moree; date to be confirmed. Council encourages the community and visitors to pop into the pop-up exhibition and continue their support of BAMM, who have worked extremely hard to ensure their wonderful collection remains on display over the coming months.

The BAMM art programs and classes will be relocated to the Moree Community Library at 36 Balo St Moree during the closure period.

The installation of a much-needed upgraded climate control system will bring the building to modern gallery standards, allowing for a safer storage and display environment for the artworks. In addition, the works will include long-awaited accessibility upgrades to the gallery entrance, making it easier for everyone to visit and enjoy the collection.

Council and BAMM apologise for any inconvenience this may cause during the building upgrade works. Council and BAMM are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all, and this project helps us achieve this goal.

Council and BAMM will continue to provide updates on the project’s progress, including specific dates for the pop-up exhibition and the reopening of the main building at 25 Frome Street Moree as these become available.

These building upgrades are made possible by the contributions of the Australian Government, through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, and Moree Plains Shire Council.
