International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global initiative celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Held annually on 8 March, IWD marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

To celebrate IWD 2024, Council invited community groups and organisations to apply for funding under the IWD Small Grants Program to deliver events or activities across the weeks of 4-15 March 2024.

Grants of up to $1,000 per organisation/group were available for eligible applicants to support events and activities which highlight and celebrate the achievements of women in Liverpool.

13 submissions were received from local community groups and not-for-profit organisations. Council endorsed 12 programs totalling $11,213 in funding from the Community Grants budget.
