Council has received an excellent response to this weekend's Christmas Pageant, with 42 floats nominated.

The Pageant will commence at 6pm on December 2, with the motorcade travelling its usual route along Oxide, Argent, and Sulphide Streets.

Council has implemented the sensory zone in Oxide St from Wolfram St to Beryl St where people who have sensitivities can watch the parade in a 'quiet zone'.

The event will be followed by an afterparty in Sturt Park featuring food and drink stalls, a merry go round and face painting for the kids, sensory zone, bumper Community Markets, and a visit from Santa.

Mayor Tom Kennedy said he was proud to see the community rally behind the traditional Christmas event.

"To have 42 floats is amazing. That's getting back up toward the number we used to see pre-Covid," he said.

"Every local business and group who have submitted a float should be commended for their efforts, it creates such a great spectacle for local families.

"I encourage everyone to come along on the day to celebrate and ensure we make this event as big as we can for the kids."
