Removing hurdles for people with a disability

Council endorsed the draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022 - 2026 for public exhibition for a period of 28 days from Thursday 26 May to Wednesday 22 June 2022.

Disability Inclusion Planning is a way in which governments, public authorities and all organisations can reduce and remove barriers for people with disability and foster a more accessible and inclusive community. Disability Inclusion Planning is about making a plan that outlines the intention and actions that the NSW government departments and agencies will take to remove barriers in access to Government information services and employment as well as to foster the promotion of the rights of people with disability.

Policy review

Council endorsed the draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy for public exhibition for a period of 28 days from Thursday 26 May to Wednesday 22 June 2022.

The purpose of this policy is to provide council rangers with structure, consistency and transparency in decision making and to assist the rangers to act promptly, effectively and consistently in response to allegations of unlawful activity.

Paying to park

Council resolved to approve the lease of a road reserve to the University of New England for the purpose of paid parking, following no submissions whilst on public exhibition.

Increase in building blocks

Council endorsed the Planning Proposal to rezone land at 48 Kurrawatha Avenue, from C4 Environmental Living and C3 Environmental Management to R2 Low Density Residential, and alter the Lot size from 1 hectare and 4 hectare to 4000m2.

Planning staff will now forward the planning proposal to the Department of Planning and Environment with a request for Gateway Determination and exhibit the proposal in accordance with that determination/. Council will now seek authorisation from the Department of Planning and Environment to be the local plan-making authority.
