Roads update – 20 May 2022
Kyogle Council News 20 May 2022

Council is working towards re-opening Forest Road in some form in June. We’re investigating a temporary solution to the landslip which forced the road’s closure, while we work on a permanent fix.

Work continued on the Lions Road landslip this week. We are still progressing towards opening the road by the end of the month despite the ongoing rain.

The causeway on Horseshoe Creek Road was fixed this week along with the spring on Imesons Road. Work to repair post flood drainage issues on Station Road and Hillyards Road will continue next week. The track around the landslip on Wender Road has been completed.

Ongoing issues with the ‘sink hole’ on Simpkins Creek Road have forced Council to impose a 10-tonne load limit on the road. Council is working with residents to ensure the load limit does not cause too many adverse impacts on the community.

Council continues to patch potholes on Clarence Way having almost made it to Old Bonalbo from Woodenbong. The crew will move to Bonalbo to repair some dangerous potholes in the town before moving south from Old Bonalbo.  We are completing the last couple of sections on Kyogle Road, and we have finished work on Fawcetts Plain Road, Collins Creek Road, Wiangaree Back Road, Mt Lindesay Highway, and streets in Woodenbong. Unfortunately, the ongoing rain and the saturated subsoil means that as soon as we finish repairing one section of road, more potholes appear. Next week you will see pothole repair crews on Clarence Way, Findon Creek Road, Omagh Road, Lynches Creek Road, Summerland Way and the Bruxner Highway.
