Mayoral Message 28 April 2022

28 April, 2022

Anzac Day

I was overwhelmed and proud to see such a tremendous turnout of the community at the City’s many Anzac Day Services. The showing of respect and recognition of those who served their country was touching.

On behalf of our communities, I also extend my thanks to the various RSL sub branches and others who held these events. The amount of work and organisation that goes into these events each year is voluntary.

150th Anniversary of the rail service at Tarana

I was privileged to attend a wonderful community event on 24 April where the was a large crowd attending the 150th Anniversary of rail services first arriving at Tarana in April 1872. This event was organsied by the Tarana Community Group in conjunction with the Transport for NSW.

I was so delighted the locals and visitors have embraced the first opera to be performed in Lithgow. This has created a real positive vibe for our LGA. Many people have made bookings at cafes, restaurants and for accommodation which is wonderful for the economy of Lithgow LGA.

Congratulations to the Portland Easter Committee for the excellent and free fun day at Portland on Easter Monday. Again thank you to all the people who supported this great day.
