Suspected asbestos contamination at Binalong Transfer Station

Binalong Transfer Station was closed on Wednesday, 30 March due to a suspected asbestos contamination.

This is a precautionary measure and there is no risk to public safety.

The suspected contamination is under investigation by the NSW Environment Protection Authority and the transfer station will remain closed until the investigation has concluded.

Members of the public can alternatively use Bowning Transfer Station or Bookham Transfer Station from 8:00 am-12:00 pm on Sunday, 3 April. Yass Transfer Station is also open daily from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. 

Yass Valley Council will not be making further comment while the investigation is underway.
