If you’ve been to the beach at Mona Vale or Long Reef recently, you’ve probably noticed that the external works have almost finished on both clubhouses.

The impressive new surf lifesaving clubs are now close to watertight, which means our contractors have started work on the internal fit outs for both buildings.

Inside the Mona Vale clubhouse, the community can look forward to enjoying a fit-for-purpose facility set over two levels with a café, restaurant, nippers’ facilities, storage for the local board riders club, function space, a first aid room and family change facilities.

The area outside the clubhouse is also taking shape as contractors build new paths, landscaped gardens, seating and café pergola, and install new public artworks by artists Michael Glasheen and Leslie McLeod. While the newly finished amenities at the beach and Apex Park are already being well used by the community.

At the Long Reef Surf Lifesaving Club, the new accessible public amenities are still being built with works on the café and external landscaping to follow.

When it’s complete, the purpose-built facility will support the surf lifesaving club and provide a space that everyone can enjoy with a new BBQ area, outdoor showers, and a courtyard with tiered concrete seating and embossed images by local artist Leesa Knights.

Both major projects are expected to be finished in May 2022, weather permitting.
