Have your say on the new Crago Mill Precinct in Yass

Members of the public are invited to have their say on plans for the new Crago Mill Precinct in Yass.

The project involves the enhancement and conversion of the former Crago’s flour mill at 209 Comur Street, Yass, which was a major producer of bran, flour and breakfast cereals in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The development application (DA) for the proposed precinct went on public exhibition on Monday, 31 January and the community can provide submissions until 5:00 pm on Monday, 28 February 2022.

Works progress

Gundaroo amenities building – the contractor is completing the internal works. A date for the official opening will be announced shortly. Adventure Playspace at Riverbank Park – awaiting detailed design before proceeding to tender. Murrumbateman Winery Trail – earthworks are continuing along the Crisps Lane and McIntosh Circuit section of pathway. Nanima Road Stage Two – works are progressing well and continuing on-site. Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement – contractors have now completed the abutments and are continuing with earthworks and piling. Bango Bridge replacement – contract awarded; work to commence early 2022. Morton Avenue – work is continuing on-site but has been delayed by unfavourable ground conditions. Heavy patching is well underway and will be ongoing over the next few months. Additional works are underway on Murrumbateman Road. Fixing Local Roads Stage 2 road rehabilitations – work on Yass River Road, Good Hope Road and Walls Junction Road is now underway. Safety around Schools projects – the tender for the works at Yass Public School has now closed and will be reviewed at the February Council meeting. Work is commencing on the Berinba Public School connectivity upgrades this week. The Sutton Public School refuge will be completed in the next few days. The two remaining projects are at the procurement stage. The Joe O’Connor Park carpark is now open; line marking will be undertaken soon. Preliminary work is underway on Back Creek Road. Tenders for the Hillview Drive and Wee Jasper Road rehabilitations are now closed and will be reviewed at the February Council meeting. Tenders soon to be released for Mulligans Flat and Murrumbateman Road safety upgrades.

Development Planner Closing: 5:00 pm Monday, 7 February The primary purpose of this position is to undertake development assessment functions in accordance with relevant legislation.

Operations Engineer Water and Wastewater Closing: 5:00 pm Monday, 14 February This position provides engineering support and guidance for the efficient day-to-day operation, maintenance and upgrade of water and wastewater assets.

Senior Engineer Planning and Projects Closing: 5:00 pm Monday, 14 February To lead planning and infrastructure development of Council’s water and wastewater assets to ensure efficient delivery of water and wastewater services. Major functions include assessment of major subdivisions and implementation of major projects.

Finance Officer Closing: 5:00 pm Monday, 21 February To provide efficient and effective accounts payable and/or receivable functions that meet the needs of Council and its customers.
