Council’s COVID-19 safe swimming season Yass and Binalong Memorial Swimming Pools are due to open for summer, pending COVID-19 restrictions.

The swimming season will kick off on Monday, 1 November and run until Friday, 25 March. The pool will be open every day during this period except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Gundaroo Recreation Ground amenities building upgrade is on track to be completed by the end of October. Murrumbateman Winery Trail – asphalt work has been undertaken on part of Murrumbateman Road and the earthworks for the concrete sections on Hercules Street and McIntosh Circuit have now commenced. This will be completed over the coming weeks. Nanima Road Stage One – final sealing works are now completed and this project will be completed once the installation of guideposts and line marking are finalised. Nanima Road Stage Two – works have now commenced on site. Wee Jasper Road rehabilitation – line marking is now completed. Note: a further seal will take place over the summer months. Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement – work is now underway on site; the contractors are working off the road with no disruptions to motorists. Illalong Road – work has commenced on site. Morton Avenue – work has commenced on site. Cusack Place – works to commence on site early next week. Dog Trap Road – the first part of the road has now been sealed, the second will be completed next week (weather permitting). Heavy patching has now commenced and will be ongoing over the next few months. Resealing works to commence early October. Council is seeking tenders for the first stage of our safety around schools project. Council is seeking tenders to make safety improvements to Murrumbateman Road. Survey and design work is underway for some of our Blackspot and Safer Roads projects.

Public Consultation

Draft Victoria Park Masterplan Closing: 5:00 pm Friday, 1 October As Crown Land Manager of Victoria Park, Council recently received funding to create a masterplan that provides a framework for its future development and management.

Proposed lease of Yass Memorial Pool and surrounds for the purpose of constructing and operating a heated pool and associated facilities Closing: 5:00 pm Thursday, 14 October Yass Valley Council is proposing to seek expressions of interest from private companies to lease an area of land near Yass Memorial Pool to build and operate an indoor heated pool and associated facilities.

Vacancies

Lifeguard (multiple) Closing: This position will remain open until we have fully staffed our pool for the 2021/22 season. The Lifeguard position provides supervision and swimming lessons to Yass Valley community members during the summer pool season. The position also maintains the pool facilities and provides emergency rescue, first aid support, and ensures a safe environment for clients, colleagues and members of the public.

Tenders YVC School Safety Upgrades Closing: 9:00 am Monday, 11 October Council has received funding under the Federal and State Governments' Road Safety Program, School Zone Infrastructure Sub Program, and intends to undertake several school safety projects in the LGA.

Murrumbateman Road Safety Improvements Closing: 9:00 am Monday, 11 October Works will include tree removal, shoulder widening, installation of safety barriers and provision of audio-tactile line marking.

Timber Bridge Replacements Closing: 2:00 pm Wednesday, 13 October Gundagai Regional Council and Yass Valley Council are seeking contractors to undertake the replacement of six timber bridges, including Bango Lane Bridge.
