Love Local and Support Moree Plains Businesses

Raise your hand if you have a Love Local Gift Card tucked safely in your wallet or handbag?

While nearly $140,000 has been loaded onto Love Local Gift Cards since the program’s launch in 2019, $30,729 is yet to be redeemed at participating retailers throughout the Moree Plains Shire.

With retail, hair and beauty salons, cafes, and pubs all reopening their doors following the most recent COVID-19 closures, now is the time to support our small businesses. Treat yourself to a nice meal, new clothes, or stock up on ag supplies. The options are endless with the variety of participating hospitality, retail, and service stores available. Don’t forget to redeem unspent Love Local Gift Cards.

Small business owner Ms. Heidi Brooks at Ruby Soles is a champion of the Love Local Gift Card Program and notes the significant benefits it brings to our region.

“The Love Local cards are a great way to promote and encourage spending in our local businesses. Ruby Soles has participated in the program for almost two years, and whenever customers load up or redeem a card in-store, we always chat about how great an initiative it is. Being a load-up store also brings additional customers into my shop, and it’s great to get that extra publicity”, said Ms. Brooks.

Moree Plains Shire Council fully funds the program for local businesses, of which there are now over 100 participating across the Shire.

The program’s continued success can be attributed to business owners and staff that have keenly supported and driven card sales in their stores. Given the impacts of drought, flood, and COVID-19 there is no better time for residents to unearth their unspent Love Local Gift Cards to support and celebrate local business.
