Library will brings books to you during lockdown

8 September 2021

Bega Valley Shire Library is offering a library delivery service in response to the extended lockdown period.

Library users can choose books and other library materials for themselves and their family through the online catalogue for free delivery to their home or the nearest hub, such as a post office or general store.

Council’s Library Services Coordinator, Meg Jordan-Jones said parents and carers of children being home-schooled will find this service particularly useful.

“If anyone needs help making reservations, they can call their nearest library during business hours and staff will hold the items and arrange delivery within a fortnight,” Ms Jordan-Jones said.

“The delivery process involves answering a few simple COVID-safe questions to ensure the safety of library users and our staff.

“Our delivery to homes is contactless. We leave the items at your door or in your letterbox in a bright orange REDcycle soft plastics bag that can be taken to Woolworths or Coles for recycling through the REDcycle program.”

Ms Jordan-Jones reminds library users they can also download or stream items from the eMagazine, eBook, eAudiobook and video collections 24 hours a day, every day, using a personal device connected to the internet.

“Membership to our libraries is free and temporary memberships can be set up online,” she said.

Access to the Library Lockdown Delivery Service and the library catalogue are available online.
