Cobar Shire Council have a number of grant funded projects coming and you have your say.

Cobar Community Hub (Ward Oval)

The Cobar Community Hub projects includes a new multipurpose pavilion building and an early learning precinct at Ward Oval.

The existing buildings have well exceeded their use by date will be demolished and replaced with a new building that will have pavilions, toilet and shower facilities, a stage, a dining hall and a kitchen/canteen/bar facilities.

The Early Learning Precinct will be build adjustment to the existing Cobar Preschool. The project also includes fencing upgrades and a central playground area.  

Upgrades to the Great Cobar Heritage Centre

The stage 1 upgrades to the Cobar Heritage Centre has been jointly funded by Cobar Shire Council, the NSW Government Regional Cultural Fund and Far North West Joint Organisation.   The project consists of restoration works that aim to bring the historical building back to its former glory and preserve it for the future. In addition to the restoration works, there will be new exhibitions installed once the building works have been completed.

The building contractor is expected to commence work onsite in October and the centre is planned to re-open in July 2021.

Refurbishment to Cobar Youth and Fitness Centre

The building upgrades to the Cobar Youth and Fitness Centre have been jointly funded by the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund and Cobar Shire Council.

This project has been funded by the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund and the Cobar Shire Council.

The Cobar Miners Memorial

The Cobar Miners Memorial project is jointly funded by the NSW Governments Stronger Country Communities Fund, the Australian Governments Building Better Regions Fund, community funding raising and Cobar Shire Council.

The Miners Memorial is to be built at the Cobar Mining Heritage Park and will be a place to remember the lost miners from Cobar and the region. The project has commenced and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
