Construction of the new aquatic-themed playground at one of the harbour’s most iconic beaches is set to start this week.

The all-ages inclusive playground will feature a rope pendulum swing and spinning bowls, a fishing platform, a sea reed climbing net and slide, a seahorse toddler sand play activity area, and sandstone hermit crab retreat – it will be hours of fun for everyone.

The playground is an exciting part of the Clontarf Reserve Landscape Masterplan - a multi-million-dollar upgrade of the area including an improved amenities block and tidal pool, picnic facility, landscaping, pathway upgrades, and realigning the carpark.

Parents will be able to kick back, relax and watch their littlies knowing they are protected from the sun’s harmful rays under the shade sails and beautiful mature trees which are being retained and protected.

Recently, the sandstone seawall, accessible ramp, and tiered sitting bleachers were built making a perfect vantage spot to take in the amazing view of the harbour.

The playground will be closed during construction and is expected to re-open in August, weather permitting.
