Moree Physical Culture Club Funded To Keep Moving

Members of the Moree Physical Culture Club will be able to perfect their pliés and positions by purchasing a brand new Ballet Barre and resistance bands after successfully securing funding from Moree Plains Shire Council’s public donations fund.

Members were using chairs, tables and walls as a substitute for a Ballet Barre and had a limited number of resistance bands as they broke weekly due to wear and tear.

Samantha Cosgrove from the Moree Physical Culture Club has explained that the new equipment is overdue and “in need of an upgrade”.

“We have been using chairs, tables and walls as a solution so far but require a safer and more effective method to complete some exercises.

“Our members come to class and work hard each week. Knowing we can provide them with safe equipment is our main priority.

“We have not had an accident yet, but this is about ensuring that never happens,” said Ms Cosgrove.

Purchasing the new equipment will ensure classes are conducted more safely and enable students to continue to work on their technique.

Mayor of Moree Plains Shire Council, Katrina Humphries explained that Council recognises the importance of supporting sporting groups throughout the Moree Plains.

“It is important to ensure that our children can access a diverse range of sporting opportunities, to do this we must continue to support our local community sporting groups so that they can continue to operate.

“The Moree Physical Culture Club has been operating in our community since 1994, the organisation is a great asset to the Moree community and adored by a number of children. After 26 years of operating, new equipment is probably much needed.

“I hope that the addition of a Ballet Barre and resistance bands the helps young dancers and teachers continue to grow their performance work,” said Mayor Humphries.
