COVID-19 changes

On Monday, 7 December 2020, the NSW Government rolled back COVID-19 restrictions across the state, replacing the 4sqm rule with the 2sqm rule. As a result, Yass Valley Council has made the operational decision to implement the following changes, including increasing capacity, at a number of our facilities, but most notably at our pools:Increase the capacity at Yass Pool from 226 people to 452 people.

Increase the capacity at Binalong Pool from 70 people to 140 people. Under the 2sqm rule, Council has limited capacity to open change and shower facilities at both pools provided social distancing measures can be maintained. Public Consultation Submissions welcome for Civic Precinct

In February 2020, Council endorsed a ‘wish list’ of projects and resolved to undertake planning and design work so the projects would be ‘shovel ready’ in the event of grant funding opportunities. One of these projects is a Civic Precinct, which would include a new library, community rooms and exhibition spaces, long term Government tenants and the retention of Crago Mill among other elements. Council is keen to understand if the elements for inclusion in the Civic Precinct meet community needs and expectations. Community members are invited to make a submission on the proposed location and scope of works.
