Wollondilly Mayor Robert Khan has welcomed this afternoon’s announcement by the State Government that community feedback on a potential Picton Bypass corridor is now being sought.

Mayor Khan said, “Wollondilly has been waiting for news on the Picton bypass for a long time and we are very pleased to see the release of the proposal today.”

“I encourage all residents and road users to provide feedback to Transport for NSW on the recommended corridor bypass.”

Council will be urging the State Government to fast track construction of a Picton bypass, to help ease growing congestion in Picton and most importantly to avoid a repeat of the gridlock that occurred a year ago during the Green Wattle Creek bushfire evacuation.”

The recommended corridor released by Transport for NSW would provide a bypass connection between Remembrance Driveway and Picton Road with new intersections south of Wonga Road and north-west of Maldon Bridge Road.

Feedback on the upgrade is invited until Monday 22 February 2021 and will be considered before finalising the proposal.

Residents have been invited to attend virtual community sessions on NSW Roads Facebook page at facebook.com/NSWRoads on Monday 1 February 2021 from 4pm to 4:30pm.

Comments on the proposal can be provided by emailing [email protected] or writing to Picton Bypass PO Box 973, Parramatta NSW 2150.
