Carrathool Shire Council today launched their Australia Day Billboard Art Competition with a first prize of $1000. Entries are invited of works depicting the 2021 Australia Day’s key themes which are Respect, Reflect and Celebrate. All entries are to be submitted in a digital format online. The winning entry must be capable of being enlarged into billboard format 2.4 metres by 2.4 metres.

“Council is very excited to be launching the Billboard Art Competition” General Manager Rick Warren said today. “Our Shire has many very creative people producing great works, so the Billboard Art Competition will be a great opportunity for them to produce and show their best.”

The Competition is jointly funded by Council and the National Australia Day Council, and the winner will be announced appropriately at the Australia Day Luncheon which will be held this year in Rankins Springs.

“We have been very lucky to link with our Sister City Council in Wollongong for advice with this great community project. We are most appreciative in particular for the help from Mr John Monteleone, the Gallery Director from the Wollongong Art Gallery. Collaboration on projects such as this make Sister City relationships worthwhile” Mr Warren added.

“Council recently published a brochure which highlights a number of significant pieces of public art throughout the Shire. The Australia Day 2021 Billboard will be a pleasing addition to our existing artwork.”

Entries for the Billboard Art Competition are restricted to residents of Carrathool Shire, and will close on midnight, Sunday 10 January 2021.
