I’ve been following the COVID-19 cluster outbreaks in Victoria and southern NSW very closely. They are a terrifying reminder of just how fast and dangerously COVID-19 can tear through a community – and they are a very timely lesson to us all not to become complacent.

This virus is here in our State and its ability to travel through populations is incredible. We can’t let our guard slip even though we live on the Mid North Coast.

The very best defence is to follow all the hygiene and social gathering rules set out by the NSW Government. I’ve noticed that local shops and cafes are being very, very sensible about the numbers of people allowed into a premises, the need for contact tracing details to be provided and the need to sanitise.

Please remember to hand-wash or sanitise regularly. And please pay attention to the rules the NSW Government health experts are asking us all to follow. They can change, so please try and stay up-to-date. This is a good website to check on the current rules – www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules

Mid North Coast Local Health District also has a very useful website which provides information on the location of current outbreaks in the State, symptoms and local COVID-19 testing clinics. Please take a moment to have a look at mnclhd.health.nsw.gov.au/health-consumer-information/covid-19-coronavirus-clinics

Health Heroes

Once again, I’d like to thank our local medics and all staff working in the health sector who are on the frontline of this pandemic. You are all doing an amazing job!

Big Bash League Return

On a brighter note, isn’t is fantastic that Coffs Harbour will host the Sydney Sixers again in January 2021?

What an amazing opportunity to watch cricket at the highest level in our very own C.ex Coffs International Stadium. It’s so important for our younger generations to see the game played first hand, it inspires and propels them to pursue similar sporting dreams. The Sydney Sixers are a truly professional team and provide excellent role models for young players in Australian sport.

Once again the quality and reputation of the Stadium, its facilities and staff – as well as the glorious Coffs Coast itself – has seen us included in this top sporting series. I can’t wait!
