Bookings open for Civic Centre

Published on 07 July 2020

Bookings are now being taken for the Civic Centre ahead of its scheduled reopening on July 20.

Council's Acting Events Coordinator, Shannan Botten, said it would be pleasing to see the centre once again open for community use.

"The Civic Centre is such a great asset for Broken hill and I'm sure there will be plenty of locals and community groups happy to see it available again," she said.

"The layout of the centre is pretty flexible since the refurbishments took place, so we should be able to accommodate most gatherings and functions while still adhering to current health restrictions.

"We could theoretically accommodate 325 people across the whole facility, but it's best to chat with Events staff around how much space you need and how many people are expected at your event."

The reopening of the centre will also coincide with the launch of a new Facebook page for the Civic Centre, and a new easier online ticketing system.

"Be sure to follow the new Civic Centre Facebook page when it launches, it will allow us to keep everyone informed of what shows are currently being featured or are on the horizon," said Ms Botten.

"It will also allow us to quickly alert the public if we have any changes to capacity or event bookings in the event that health restrictions change again due to COVID-19."

A number of performances that were scheduled to take place have moved their tours to 2021 due to COVID-19.

Ian Moss: Live and Acoustic will now arrive in April next year, and World of Musicals is scheduled for July 2021. Staff are also in discussions with other promoters who are keen to bring their shows to Broken Hill.
