Council News - 20 May 2020 PRESS RELEASE COVID-19 Coronavirus - Council Services Update

The COVID-19 Coronavirus is continuing to have an impact on Communities and Council services, although there is a gradual lifting of restrictions currently underway, with the first of 3 stages involved in this process in NSW commencing on Friday, 15 May 2020.

Essential Council services such as sewer and garbage collection continue to be maintained. The Grenfell Waste Facility is open for Shire residents only with the recovery shop still closed. Council’s administration office remains open with social distancing measures and protective screens in place at the service counter.

Local parks, including the Grenfell Skatepark were re-opened to the public on Friday, 15 May 2020 for passive recreational use as part of the easing of restrictions which is great news. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution and continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing measures whilst using these facilities.

There are however, various services still closed to the public until further notice which are detailed below:

Grenfell Public Library – to be assessed. Grenfell VIC – to be assessed. Grenfell Internet Centre – to be assessed. Grenfell Caravan Park and Railway Station Free Camping – to be assessed. Grenfell Museum – closed.

Staff at the Grenfell VIC, Internet Centre and Caravan Park are still available to assist the community and they are available on their respective contact numbers during business hours. Council’s librarian is continuing to provide a delivery service by arrangement within the Grenfell Town limits. Street stalls are still in recess.

Councillors, together with Council staff both indoor and outdoor are doing an excellent job continuing to provide these services to the community in these difficult times. The situation will continue to be monitored and decisions will be made accordingly in accordance with the Federal Government’s 3-stage process of lifting restrictions.

The patience and understanding of the community is very much appreciated.
