This year’s ANZAC Day was different from any we’ve experienced before. Our usual dawn services and marches weren’t possible under COVID-19 restrictions. This didn’t stop the Snowy Monaro community from commemorating ANZAC Day in their own special way.

At dawn, people stood in their driveways either listening to an ANZAC Day service or watching a live-stream.

While we weren’t able to stand shoulder to shoulder this ANZAC Day, we still showed our support for the men and women who have served our country. Lest we forget.

Snowy Monaro Regional Library is now operating a Click and Collect service at the Bombala and Cooma Libraries. Library users who can’t access the electronic resources and online databases can now call the library to request items.

These items can be collected at a nominated time between 10am and 3pm the following day. Library staff are working hard to ensure we still have access to the books, magazines, DVDs and all the other items we love to immerse ourselves in.

Measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing requirements are met and all patrons will receive instructions before collecting their items.

Please call 6455 1735 or email [email protected] if you would like to participate in this service.

Now is the time to have your say on Council’s Draft 2021 Operational Plan. The plan is out for public comment and is presented in a new, easier to follow format. The Operational Plan sets out the priorities, direction and expected levels of service that our community expects in the coming 12 months.

Please visit Your Say Snowy Monaro to view the plan and to have your say online. Feedback can also be submitted through emailing and writing to Council. Submissions close midnight Sunday 24 May.

On Monday, submissions for the Mayoral Bushfire Relief Fund were assessed. There will be good news to share on this in the coming days.

Amidst the challenges of COVID-19, bushfire recovery is still progressing in the Snowy Monaro. We will continue to assist affected residents where possible.
