Wollondilly Council has welcomed the announcement of plans for six new mobile base stations for Wollondilly and surrounding Local Government areas.

Federal Member for Hume, Angus Taylor announced this week that six new locations in Hume will receive boosted mobile phone coverage as part of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.

In the Wollondilly Shire, new small cell base stations will be located at Lakesland, Werombi and Yerranderie.

Councillors had been advocating for better mobile phone coverage for the area alongside the Federal Member for some time and will be pleased to see an improvement to services.

Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “On behalf of the Wollondilly community, I would like to thank the Federal Government and Angus Taylor for providing these new mobile stations.”

“This is great news for families and small businesses in the area who have battled to solve mobile coverage issues.”

“Connectivity is now more important than ever and these base stations will ensure that residents from these areas will have more reliable access to make phone calls and use mobile data.”

The stations are expected to be rolled out over the coming months.
