Library Home Delivery Service

The Home Library Service will return as an expanded service.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone is very pleased to announce Council is bringing back its Home Library Service and expanding its service delivery to more residents from 21 April 2020.

This service will be available for all the community, prioritising those residents who are housebound and unable to connect to Council’s online library services.

As part of Fairfield City Council’s ongoing efforts to protect the community’s health and wellbeing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Home Library Service was suspended last month along with the closure of our five branch libraries.

The Home Library Service has been a well-loved and much needed service for more than 40 years delivering library items to the homes of less mobile residents, such as the elderly and people with long-term illness or disabilities.

While our libraries are closed we still want our residents to be mentally stimulated – particularly those that are isolated. Reading is a great way to maintain our mental wellbeing while following the rules of staying at home and observing social distancing.

Council has reimagined its Home Library Service so that this critical service is made available to all residents, but with a priority placed on those elderly and housebound or with limited or no access to our online digital resources.

Council has developed safe and contactless home delivery methods to ensure the safety of staff and patrons.

Residents who wish to access the Home Library Service can email [email protected] or phone 9725 0333.

Council has made changes to a number of its other services in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. For a full list of changes, visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/coronavirus.

We will continue to provide updates to the community as and when changes occur.
