In response to the COVID-19 crisis, City of Parramatta Council has made some changes to a number of its services and operations, including parking.

Increased short-term parking spots

To accommodate recent changes to business operations in line with government restrictions, Council has increased the number of short-term (5 and 15 minute) parking spots on local streets to facilitate takeaway, pickup and click-and-collect services. By ensuring regular turnover of these parking spots, more people are able to stop and support our local businesses.

Longer grace periods

In addition, Council has eased parking restrictions on all 1P, 2P and 4P timed parking zones by extending the grace period from 10 minutes to 1 hour. Drivers who fail to move their car after this extended grace period, will receive a caution. A fine may be issued on the third and subsequent occasions.

Safe parking

While Council is doing what it can to make things easier for the community, safety remains our utmost priority. Parking officers are required to act on parking offences that impact the safety of pedestrians and drivers; these include failure to comply with No Stopping, No Parking and School Zones. In addition, Council will continue to monitor parking at the end of intersections, adjacent to unbroken dividing lines in narrow streets, as well as other infringements, such as blocking access to driveways and parking in loading zones.

While we recognise that this is a stressful time for everyone, we ask that the community be kind and respectful to each other, Council staff and frontline workers.
