Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Resource and Waste education team held a recent pop-up display stall at the Dalgety Show on Sunday 8 March 2020.

During these pop-up information displays, the education officers help the community learn more about common recycling habits, demonstrate techniques to improve these habits and assist in reducing overall waste while answering our specific regions recycling myths.

The educators encouraged the public to take part in the Council’s Resource and Waste Services Survey at all of their community pop-up display stalls. The information collected from these surveys helps Council better understand the needs of our community and guide us in developing our education materials.

Every completed survey went in a random draw to win a 5Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle) prize pack. The prize pack included: reusable produce bags, reusable stainless steel straws, corn starch reusable mug, beeswax wraps and a reusable shopping bag.

Council’s Resource and Waste education team wishes to thank the community members who took the time to enter the survey and we wish to congratulate and acknowledge the winner of the 5Rs prize pack.

Michael Richter from Jindabyne won a pack of reusable goodies to reduce single-use waste at home. Congratulations Michael!

From the survey our results show most residents are confident knowing what recyclables are accepted in the kerbside service, they separate recyclable material in the workplace and use their rubbish bin if they don’t have a home compost option for their food scraps.

For your chance to go into our Resource and Waste Education prize draws, just make sure you follow the team and see where they hold their next pop-up information stall and fill out a survey.
