Council postpones public community consultation events

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic Byron Shire Council has postponed plans for a range of public community consultation events in the coming months.

This relates to activities such as workshops.

Council will however continue to offer a range of ways for people to engage with staff about different projects including opportunities for one-on-one (with social distancing and hygiene protocols of course) and telephone consultations.

People will still be able to provide feedback and submissions in the normal range of ways, including via the website, email, telephone or Council’s digital engagement platform www.yoursaybyronshire.com.au.

General Manager, Mark Arnold, said the decision to postpone all consultations was made in consideration for public and staff health and safety.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is having an impact on Council’s activities and I am asking for the community’s patience and understanding,” Mr Arnold said.

“Council, like everyone else, is responding to this rapidly changing situation, and our community’s well-being is a priority for this organisation.

“Information about projects and plans on public exhibition are on our website and I encourage people to scroll through the ‘public notices’ tab or call us if they can’t find what they are looking for,” Mr Arnold said.
