COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information Community Update 6

Last night Prime Minister Scott Morrison provided an update to the list of prohibited activities and venues which will apply from midnight tonight, Wednesday 25 March 2020.

Due to this announcement, the following Council services will be affected:

CLOSED Council Facilities and Services Moree Customer Service Centre

Moree Customer Service Centre will no longer provide face-to-face service and all enquiries will be addressed over the phone or by email. Our Moree Offices will be closed to the general public.

Shire Libraries

The Moree Community Library will be closed to the public from Thursday 26 March 2020, until further notice.

Council’s Mungindi operations (customer service and library services) will be closed to the public from Thursday 26 March 2020, until further notice.

Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre

The Dhiiyaan Centre will be closed to the public from Thursday 26 March 2020, until further notice.

Parks, open spaces, play equipment and public toilets

Other than the public toilets located on Balo Street, all other public toilets will be closed, until further notice. Cleaning of the Balo St public toilets will be undertaken more frequently.

All playgrounds across the Shire are closed until further notice, including exercise equipment and playground equipment.

OPEN Council Facilities and Services Essential Services – Waste Collection

We operate a weekly general waste collection (red bin) and a fortnightly recycling (yellow bin) and organic (green bin) waste collection. There are no changes to this service at this time.

Essential Services – Water and Sewer Operations

The provision of treated potable water and sewer operations across the Shire are of highest priority. There are no changes to this service at this time.

Gwydir Daycare and Preschool

This facility remains open and specific advice has been provided to families which use this service.
