'Click and Collect' library service begins

25 March 2020

No need to return your loans!  please keep your loans at home until the health crisis is over. We have set up automatic renewals and have suspended overdue notices, so sit back and relax and enjoy your library items.

Bega Valley Shire Library is introducing a ‘Click and Collect’ service in response to social distancing and hygiene measures required in this time of COVID-19.

“The ‘Click and Collect’ service will allow library users to select materials online and collect at their branch library,” says Acting Library Coordinator, Megan Jordan-Jones. “Library customers can also call their branch library to order library materials.”

Library staff will contact library patrons when their materials are ready to be collected and make an appointment for collection. Collection appointments will be staggered to maintain social distancing.

All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours by staff before being re-shelved.

“Our loan periods have increased from 4 weeks to 8 weeks for all items.” says Ms Jordan-Jones.

All libraries closed at 12 noon on Wednesday 25 March to prepare for the new service, with the new arrangements to start on Thursday 26 March.

“If library members are isolated, they can still download eMagazines, eBooks and eAudiobooks 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere using a personal device connected to the internet. Another great alternative is StoryBox Library - an online reading room for children available to library members for free via our website.

It’s free to join the Bega Valley Shire Library and temporary membership can be set up online.Changes to library services and opening hours will be communicated through the library website, Facebook page and signage at libraries.

To access ‘Click and Collect’, search the library catalogue at https://library.begavalley.nsw.gov.au/cp_themes/default/page.asp?p=DOC-LIA-33-26-88  and make a reservation on an available item at your branch or for a phone service call Bega Library on 6499 2127, Bermagui Library on 6499 2411, Tura Library on 6499 2340 or Eden Library on 6499 2451

“We are playing our part in protecting our community by doing everything we can to contain the spread of infection”

“If you have any symptoms, please respect other library users and staff by not visiting our libraries even to collect your library materials” said Ms Jordan-Jones.
