Council’s response to Coronavirus Posted Monday 23 March 2020

Acting on the latest public health advice on Coronavirus (COVID-19) from both the federal and state governments, Mosman Council has closed a number of facilities and suspended or cancelled a range of programs, activities and events.

Mosman Art Gallery and Community Centre

The Gallery and its venue hire facilities are closed until further notice. All talks and events and visits to exhibitions at the Gallery have been cancelled.

Barry O’Keefe Library

The Library is closed until further notice. All events and activities at the Library have been cancelled. All loans have been extended with overdue fees waived so please keep borrowed books at home.

Community Services: Children’s Services, Youth Centre, Seniors Centre

Council’s Before and After School Care service will now close at 6pm, Friday 27 March 2020 until further notice. No fees will be payable for enrolments extending to the end of the NSW public school term.

Connections Playgroup is suspended until further notice, and the 2020 April Vacation Care program is cancelled.

Mosman Youth Centre’s drop-in service is suspended until further notice, although young people are still able to book one-on-one appointments for support by contacting Mosman Youth Services on 9978 4013. The regional Shoreshocked 2020 music festival set for early April has also been postponed until further notice.

All regular group and social activities run by Mosman Square Seniors Centre have been suspended and the centre is closed until further notice.

Please be assured that Council will continue to deliver services to support elderly and more vulnerable residents who need Community Transport and Mosman Meals, with appropriate hygiene and social distancing measures in place.

Mosman Markets

Monthly Saturday and quarterly night markets are cancelled until further notice.

Customer Service

Council’s Customer Service Centre remains open and operating normal hours of Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.

Council has online payment and form options available or call 9978 4000 or email [email protected] for assistance with Council business. The Justice of the Peace (JP) service is currently available on a limited daily appointment basis only. Call Council to make a booking on 9978 4000.

Service Centre customers are asked to sit or stand at least 1.5m from counter staff to maintain social distancing.

Duty Planning

Council’s Urban Planning team’s duty planning service is available Monday to Friday 8.30am to 10.30am and can be accessed by emailing or requesting a zoom meeting via [email protected], calling the duty planning number 9978 4214 or visiting mosmanplanning.net and clicking on the Ask Joe button.

Council Meetings

The forthcoming Council Meeting will be closed to the public. You may wish to view the meeting via the webcast. If you have any questions to be considered, relating to any Agenda items, you may wish to email them to [email protected] no later than 5 pm on Monday, 6 April 2020. Maximum 200 words and name and street address will be required. There will be no open public forum prior to the meeting.

Waste Services

All residential waste services and street litter bin services will be maintained while collections may be brought forward by one to two hours to enable safe work practices according to public health directives.

Public areas

Council has increased the frequency of cleaning at popular high-use facilities, such as public bathrooms. Rangers are patrolling our local cafes and restaurants to ensure that the new restrictions limiting their operations to takeaway facilities only are being observed.

Bookings for Council venues

The Marie Bashir Mosman Sports Centre is closed until further notice and bookings for Mosman’s parks and reserves and Mosman Drill Hall have been suspended until further notice.
