Lithgow City Council is moving to a new operation of the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility from the 1st January 2021. This follows more than 25 years of operation by Henry Plant and Equipment Hire. The decision to end the current contract is not a reflection of the work by Henrys but is based on improving governance and the need to establish a contract that references modern safety and environmental standards.

“Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Henry Plant and Equipment Hire, and in particular Mr Bill Henry and Mr Peter Henry, for their contributions over the last 25 years operating the site. The Henry’s have demonstrated their commitment to providing a high level of service to the local community over these years and their efforts are greatly appreciated” said Deputy Mayor Steve Ring.

Council will now move towards establishing a new contract for the site with Council maintaining control of the site. The new contract will be focused on providing the opportunity for plant hire companies (including local companies) to tender for the supply of plant and equipment.

“Council looks forward to working with local companies to continue to improve waste services in the local community with a commitment to resource recovery and economic development” said Cr Ring.
