The City of Parramatta will celebrate 2019 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve event at the World Heritage-listed Parramatta Park, from 4pm-10pm.

The evening’s festivities will span across four different activation areas with a host of family-friendly activities and entertainment, before lighting up the skyline with a grand fireworks finale at 9pm.

“I have had the honour of witnessing Parramatta’s successes throughout 2019. This year our City has seen a range of wonderful community initiatives, exciting new projects, as well as great events and festivals,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.

“Parramatta’s New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to look back and recognise what we have achieved as a City in the last year. I look forward to celebrating with the community as we say goodbye to 2019, and look to 2020 and beyond.”

The Crescent is the perfect spot for eventgoers to spread out on a picnic rug for a night under the stars listening to some great tunes. Comedian and MC Anthony Salame will host the stage, with performances from The Soul Movers featuring former ‘The Wiggles’ member Murray Cook, as well as Jackie Brown Jr, Colin Ho and The Goods.

Families with young children will find a fun-filled space at Coronation Hill. The exciting program hosted by MC Sean Murphy will feature performances by the Tiptoe Giants and the Jitterbugs.  There will also be an animal show and science show for the whole family to enjoy.

‘The Fairground’ and ‘Carnival on the Green’ areas will offer a great selection of amusement rides, snacks, face painting and colourful roving performers. Find a spot to sit and relax at Carnival on the Green, which has one of the best views of the fireworks in the Park.

Parramatta Park Trust Executive Director, Suellen Fitzgerald said the Trust was excited that the Park would once again host the City’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“We are delighted to host the City of Parramatta’s fantastic free New Year’s Eve community event as part of our popular Crescent Summer Series. We hope everyone will come along to farewell 2019 under the stars in the picturesque grounds of World Heritage-listed Parramatta Park” she said.

“The Crescent is Western Sydney’s premier outdoor music venue, a beautiful natural amphitheatre beside Parramatta River. It promises to be a great evening with family-friendly entertainment under the stars, wrapping up with a spectacular fireworks display.”

This year the City of Parramatta will be supporting the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) with a $10,000 donation as well as community fund raising. There will be collection buckets at the Information Stalls at different locations throughout Parramatta Park where people will be able to make a donation. Alternatively, people can donate directly to NSW Rural Fire Service.

Significant road closures will be in place on Tuesday 31 December, and attendees are encouraged to take public transport. Traffic delays throughout the City and surrounding Parramatta Park are to be expected.

Free water bottle refill stations will be available across the site courtesy of Sydney Water. Eventgoers can bring their own bottles and refill throughout the evening.
