There will be greater access to public library services following Council’s decision to extend the Bombala Library’s opening hours from 13 hours per week to 18 hours.

At last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting, it was approved the new hours will commence from January 2020 with the library to be opened between 12pm-4.30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 9am-1.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Council will soon place the draft Bombala Activation Plan on public exhibition for eight weeks. It’s hoped the activation plan will stimulate further economic growth for Bombala and its neighbouring towns/villages.

The plan continues the good work of the beautification program for the Bombala CBD and construction of the new amenities building.

Currently out for public comment is the Monaro Rail Trail Draft Feasibility Report. The report presents the case for a rail trail to operate from Queanbeyan to Bombala.

Once again, we are asking for public input. Your feedback will assist Council when considering whether to proceed with the proposed rail trail.

At the Council Meeting, I had the privilege of welcoming a new Australian citizen, Alexis Sirman. I trust you will continue to enjoy living in our wonderful region.

The fourth and final L’Étape event will be held this weekend. We’ve been privileged to host the event and to showcase the Snowy Monaro to the rest of Australia and the international cycling fraternity.

To all the locals who have contributed over the years with decorations, organisational help and their strong support, well done.

On Friday, there will be official openings in Jindabyne to mark the completion of two exciting projects.

The community is invited to attend the opening of the Jindabyne Flying Fox (adjacent to the Livvi’s Place Playground) at 11am, and then the unveiling of the new Jindabyne cricket pitch at John Connors Oval from 11.30am.
