North Sydney Council partner with Northern Sydney Local Health District to work with primary schools to create sustainable school vegetable gardens and to link the garden to the curriculum and healthy eating.

This program is suitable for primary school aged children.

What Does it Do?

The Ready Set Grow program involves extensive training,  mentoring and support.

It ensures students, teachers and parents can sustain their skills once the program is finished.

The program runs for three years with the overall aim to:

Encourage and support the creation of sustainable school fruit and vegetable gardens. Introduce concepts such as composting, consumption, recycling and healthy eating. Link to the school curriculum, and an environment management plan. Run a series of workshops, ensuring schools have the assistance and advice on how to start, maintain and expand a school food garden. Related Documents
